How are you doing? Are you feeling energised and enthusiastic about the year that has just started?
I hope so! And if it’s not the case… What are you waiting for?
We blame, we complain, we judge, forgetting that our intention is one of the most powerful tools that we have to create the life we want.
So my suggestion? Take a couple of breaths, make the decision of what is it that you want and then align in the path towards it.
A great fun way to start is to decide how is it that you want to feel. For example, you maybe willing to feel relaxed, fulfilled, stable, sexy, divine, ready, more than enough, healthy, whole, joyful, strong, any emotion, mood, state that you want to be in, see it clear, state it.
Our goals are usually important for us because of how they will make us feel when we achieve them more than because of what they are.
So after knowing how do you want to feel take decisions that will create this state. Little actions that will make you feel the way you want to feel. A tasty breakfast, going for a walk, learning to dance, singing in a choir, what ever makes you feel what your final goal is meant to make you feel, do it. This emotion will produce a new vibration that will create momentum.
Energy works as a snow ball effect, the more you put your attention-energy into something the more its propensity to grow. So with every little action you will be creating momentum to get closer to that what you want.
But of course, it’s not only about the result. The result is just that “final picture” that stimulates our life force and makes us move with impetus towards it. Result motivates us to move, grow and expand.
The idea of achieving something we want excites us, gives us the kind of energy that defies the inertia of our comfort zone.
But we know, that growth and expansion happen in the unfolding in the making, in the process of creation. That’s where we bond, that’s where we learn to love, that’s where we learn new skills, that’s where we learn what we really want and don’t want, that’s where the fun happens. And we know that when we achieve our goal, we may feel satisfied a few weeks, and then usually we start a new process of creation, or expansion, because that’s how evolution happens. Goals are just an excuse.
Constantinos Kavafi said it so well in his poem Ithaka. I read this poem for the first time when I was 14 years old. It inspired me and gave me that very sense of purpose that I still experience and share. I love poetry so here it goes… Breathe in this inspiration. And have a delicious week.
Ithaka
As you set out for Ithaka
hope your road is a long one,
full of adventure, full of discovery.
Laistrygonians, Cyclops,
angry Poseidon—don’t be afraid of them:
you’ll never find things like that on your way
as long as you keep your thoughts raised high,
as long as a rare excitement
stirs your spirit and your body.
Laistrygonians, Cyclops,
wild Poseidon—you won’t encounter them
unless you bring them along inside your soul,
unless your soul sets them up in front of you.
Hope your road is a long one.
May there be many summer mornings when,
with what pleasure, what joy,
you enter harbors you’re seeing for the first time;
may you stop at Phoenician trading stations
to buy fine things,
mother of pearl and coral, amber and ebony,
sensual perfume of every kind—
as many sensual perfumes as you can;
and may you visit many Egyptian cities
to learn and go on learning from their scholars.
Keep Ithaka always in your mind.
Arriving there is what you’re destined for.
But don’t hurry the journey at all.
Better if it lasts for years,
so you’re old by the time you reach the island,
wealthy with all you’ve gained on the way,
not expecting Ithaka to make you rich.
Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey.
Without her you wouldn’t have set out.
She has nothing left to give you now.
And if you find her poor, Ithaka won’t have fooled you.
Wise as you will have become, so full of experience,
you’ll have understood by then what these Ithakas mean.
